Among Karl Aage Rasmussen's most recent compositions is a piece called Liri commissioned by the Danish Chamber Players. The instrumentation is flute, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, harp and piano and the duration about 7 minutes. As part of a project called New pictures from an exhibition the work is related to a Danish oil painting from the late 18th century representing a watermill in the Liri-river (north of Rome). The piece was world premièred on the 22nd of August.
For the inauguration, November 2007, of the new Conservatorium in Aarhus, Denmark - build as a part of the Aarhus Concert Center - Karl Aage Rasmussen was commissioned to compose a short orchestral work which was to become Building (2007). At the inauguration on the 8th of November 2007 the work had its world première with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra conducted by Giordano Bellincampi.
