23 - 27 March 2009 the Danish Academy in Rome, led by director Erik Bach, invites to an extensive international symposium on "Classical and Modern Classical Music in Globalization and Society Environment". Karl Aage Rasmussen is associate organizer and takes part with, among other obligations, an opening "key-note" speech. Participants include highly regarded Italian critics and scholars such as Enzo Restagno, Marcello Panni and Nicola Sani, and from other parts of Europe critics and composers Stefan Beyst, Joergen I. The symposium is surrounded by concerts with music by composers such as Sciarrino, Scelsi, Nono, Bent Sørensen, Per Nørgaard, Rasmussen and Arvo Pärt. Musicians include the pianist Oscar Pizzo, ensemble Alter Ego and the Danish Piano trio Jalina-trio.
